WASHINGTON —
U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Kan., Thursday introduced the Reinstatement of Personal Responsibility for Immigrants Act to reauthorize a provision, he said Democrats stripped last year that created a loophole for illegal immigrants to access health care benefits paid for by tax dollars.
Tiahrt’s legislation closes the loophole and ensures the original State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) framework is reinstated that prevents illegal immigrants from using SCHIP.
Tiahrt’s legislation has been endorsed by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). Tiahrt and Rep. Lynn Jenkins, R-Kan. were the only two Kansas House members to oppose the expanded SCHIP bill passed by Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats in January 2009.
"We should not reward those who enter our country illegally with taxpayer-funded healthcare benefits," said Tiahrt. "When Republicans created SCHIP in 1997, we included tough provisions to ensure only legal U.S. citizens in need would receive assistance. However, Speaker Pelosi and her allies worked together to strip the citizenship verification requirements and expand the program to people who already had private insurance.
"We must crackdown on illegal immigration and strongly enforce our current immigration laws. We cannot afford watered-down laws that encourage more illegal immigrants to enter or remain in our country and add an additional burden to the Kansas state budget."
Dan Stein, president of FAIR, said: "These provisions not only help prevent illegal aliens from unlawfully accessing taxpayer-funded benefits, they enforce a long-standing policy that legal aliens should not be admitted to the United States unless they are able … to be self-sufficient."
The Reinstatement of Personal Responsibility for Immigrants Act reinstates three main provisions Democrats stripped last year:
• Requires that SCHIP applicants present documentation establishing identity and citizenship verification.
• Reinstates the five-year waiting period before legal immigrants could access SCHIP benefits.
• Requires that legal immigrants who apply for SCHIP have their eligibility verified through the proven Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system.
Co-sponsors of the bill include: Reps. Brian Bilbray (R-Calif.), Dean Heller (R-Nev.), Sue Myrick (R-N.C.), and Walter Jones (R-N.C.).

Oklahoma recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from unless they want to get a green card and become an American citizen. They all scattered. HB 1804. Hope we didn't send any of them to your state. This was against the advice of the Federal Government, and the ACLU, they said it would be a mistake.I C E even tried to stop it !

San Rafael/ the rest of the nation and Illegal has more problems than the freaking Home Depot you need to take a ride out through the canal streets and surrounding neighborhood and take a look at what the third world looks like it is literally turning Marin County into a crime infested dump. Both political parties are to blame for this mess Do the math 300 million American citizens 30 to 40 million people have invaded our country from the border south Unemployment at 10% illegal alien @ 10% 30 Million. 3% of Illegal do farm labor that means the rest have either assaulted the blue collar jobs or have turned to crime or have became a burden on our various social programs . They make up 10% of the population but 30% of our prison population. I was just working doing a job building a 8’ fence around an area in San Rafael canal district where they have had four attempted sexual assaults by a group of gang members. While working in the area gangs of about 25 to 30 Latino male were right behind an elementary school saleing drugs and intating a young woman into the gang by having her perform sexual acts on about 10 in the bushes not 10’ from a walking path and 25’ from a school playground. While on the walking path, the made rude remarks to any women that dared to walk by and would glare at anyone who dared to make eye contact. This is just a micro cosmism to the whole problem Schools are broken prison are broken economy broken drugs gangs children born into gang families the negative effect on our society. WE as a country can no longer be the Safety valve for Mexico and the poverty that they continue to give us. WE needs to demand that that our laws are followed and send them home. Mind you, I am not saying all Mexican people are bad there are many hard working and good families in our communities legal and not legal, but it is defiantly time for America to take care of Americans first. I believe that the best thing is to send half home right away and if you send 15 million at home at once demanding that the government change down there maybe Mexico will use the resources it has to be what is predicted to be enough to make it an economic super power and turn into the great trade partner we were promised in NAFTA.We need to wake up. We are going to lose our vote thanks to our government legitamizing people who do not belong here and are unwilling to fight for ther own country this attitude is making our country like the turd world.\Watchout Canda once they use us up ther comming for you

These are times that cry out for leadership.
But when you look around, you've got to ask: 'Where have all the leaders gone?' Where are the curious, creative communicators? Where are the people of character, courage, conviction, omnipotence, and common sense? I may be a sucker for alliteration, but I think you get the point.
Name me a leader who has a better idea for homeland security than making us take off our shoes in airports and throw away our shampoo?
We've spent billions of dollars building a huge new bureaucracy, and all we know how to do is react to things that have already happened.
Everyone's hunkering down, fingers crossed, hoping the government will make it better for them. Now, that's just crazy.. Deal with life.
Name me an industry leader who is thinking creatively about how we can restore our competitive edge in manufacturing. Who would have believed that there could ever be a time when 'The Big Three' referred to Japanese car companies? How did this happen, and more important, look what Obama did about it!
Name me a government leader who can articulate a plan for paying down the debit, or solving theenergy crisis, or managing the health care problem. The silence is deafening. But these are the crises that are eating away at our country and milking the middle class dry.
I have news for the Chicago gangsters in Congress. We didn't elect you to turn this country into a losing European Socialist state. What is everybody so afraid of? That some bonehead on NBC or CNN news will call them a name? Give me a break. Why don't you guys show some spine for a change?

Obama Health Care Plan Silent on Immigration Issues
Last week, President Obama attempted to kick-start the stalled health care debate by offering his own proposal to reform the U.S. health care system. While the White House states that the proposal “incorporates the work the House and the Senate have done and adds additional ideas from Republican members of Congress,” the president’s plan is more akin to a list of ideas rather than actual legislative text. (Proposal). Importantly, the White House proposal is completely silent with respect to the immigration-related issues FAIR and other groups had raised concerning the House and Senate-passed health care bills.
Immigration reformers took issue with the House-passed health care bill (H.R. 3962) because it: (1) waives the five-year waiting period for legal aliens with respect to the taxpayer-subsidized affordability credits created under the legislation and (2) contains a flawed verification process that would allow illegal aliens to fraudulently obtain benefits. (See FAIR’s Legislative Analysis of H.R. 3962). There were similar problems in the Senate bill (H.R. 3590; See also FAIR’s Legislative Analysis of H.R. 3590), although the Senate bill generally bars illegal aliens from participating in the “exchange” marketplace, while the House bill does not. (See FAIR President Dan Stein’s USA Today op-ed, November 2009). It is unclear as to how President Obama’s proposal would address these issues.
Unfortunately, last week’s bipartisan health care summit did not address any of these issues, and at this point, it remains uncertain as to how the health care debate will proceed. Stay tuned to FAIR for the latest on immigration and health care reform…

Mrs. Pelosi’s remarks are downright deceptive, according to Congressman Lamar Smith (R-Texas), who points out that the proposed health care legislation “ contains gaping loopholes that will allow illegal immigrants to receive taxpayer-funded benefits .”

The Federal for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) believes the legislation is now purposefully self-contradictory in order to ensure that the millions of illegal Latinos will receive coverage. FAIR points out that while one provision of the proposed health care reform bill states illegal immigrants will not be eligible for benefits, the legislation remains without any system of verification for determining if a patient is a legal or illegal U. S. resident.
Moreover, Fair insists, the bill leaves open the possibility that if one citizen family member is eligible for benefits, then the entire family — including illegal immigrants — is also eligible for the benefits.
“At a time when the federal government is running trillion dollar deficits, and the projected costs of the proposed health care overhaul seem to grow with each passing day, the committee that writes our tax laws wants Americans to pay for the health care costs of illegal aliens,” says FAIR President Dan Stein. “Given the opportunity to close loopholes that would cost the public billions of dollars each year, Democrats on the committee unanimously rejected an amendment that would bar illegal aliens from a national health care program.”
The cost of treating illegal aliens amounts to nearly $11 billion a year, according to calculations done by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), a non-profit group that opposes illegal immigration. And that cost is not expected to go away if a health insurance reform bill becomes law.
According to FAIR’s Director of Special Projects Jack Martin, illegal immigrants presently cost U. S. taxpayers $10.7 billion a year for health care. The numbers are contained in a report that FAIR plans to publish in the near future.
“The current health care bill is looking as if it is leaving a very large loophole for medical coverage being provided to illegal aliens,” Martin said.

Obama Health Care Plan Silent on Immigration Issues
Last week, President Obama attempted to kick-start the stalled health care debate by offering his own proposal to reform the U.S. health care system. While the White House states that the proposal “incorporates the work the House and the Senate have done and adds additional ideas from Republican members of Congress,” the president’s plan is more akin to a list of ideas rather than actual legislative text. (Proposal). Importantly, the White House proposal is completely silent with respect to the immigration-related issues FAIR and other groups had raised concerning the House and Senate-passed health care bills.
Immigration reformers took issue with the House-passed health care bill (H.R. 3962) because it: (1) waives the five-year waiting period for legal aliens with respect to the taxpayer-subsidized affordability credits created under the legislation and (2) contains a flawed verification process that would allow illegal aliens to fraudulently obtain benefits. (See FAIR’s Legislative Analysis of H.R. 3962). There were similar problems in the Senate bill (H.R. 3590; See also FAIR’s Legislative Analysis of H.R. 3590), although the Senate bill generally bars illegal aliens from participating in the “exchange” marketplace, while the House bill does not. (See FAIR President Dan Stein’s USA Today op-ed, November 2009). It is unclear as to how President Obama’s proposal would address these issues.
Unfortunately, last week’s bipartisan health care summit did not address any of these issues, and at this point, it remains uncertain as to how the health care debate will proceed. Stay tuned to FAIR for the latest on immigration and health care reform…
